Biovays Sets its Sights on Evolution!

Biovays sponsored the Evolution Summit 2009 organised by Marcus Evans in Montreux, Switzerland at the end of last month. In an increasingly competitive and cost-conscious environment, pharmaceutical companies are striving to develop their pipeline products as quickly and as cheaply as possible, all in meeting ever more stringent industry regulations, reducing attrition and raising the quality of their portfolios. The Evolution Summit addressed the critical challenges of clinical drug development, sharing expert insights and experiences on how to optimise the clinical trial process and increase the chance of clinical and commercial success in a cost-effective way.
At this prestigious industry event, the Biovays team demonstrated how their innovative biomarker solutions and expert analyses can help drug companies rise to the safety-efficacy challenge. Imaging biomarkers are playing an increasingly important role in clinical research and development and Biovays is now offering specialised services adapted to the needs of clinical studies. The 3-day event was a huge success for the Marseille-based research solutions provider: over 30 qualified business meetings with senior drug development executives, an impressive conference line-up and a series of networking activities at a stunning 5-star venue overlooking Lake Geneva. Marcus Evans coordinated the summit proceedings with characteristic flair and professionalism: on-site management was quasi-flawless and the support, warmth and pro-activity of the ME team were appreciated by both sponsors and delegates. Another intensely productive meeting & networking event for professionals of the pharmaceutical industry. |

Biovays: a prime example of European CRO growth potential
|
A new analysis conducted by Frost & Sullivan entitled European CRO Markets - A Strategic Analysis offers an insight into current market dynamics and industry trends, aiming to identify key players and drivers for future growth. The study confirms that the need of pharma and biotech companies to control costs and accelerate product development will lead to more outsourcing and thus stimulate CRO growth. Frost & Sullivan also observe that the high price of late drug failure (during clinical trials) has generated interest in biomarkers and consider biomarker development to be a new growth driver for CROs. In their press release of 12 October 2009, Frost & Sullivan single out Biovays as a European CRO offering services in « an important growth segment ». This is just the beginning and the future looks bright!

Discovery Summit news: Monte-Carlo, Monaco 23-25 March 2009
|
As an event sponsor, Biovays was delighted to take part in this prestigious 3-day event in Monaco which united 110 pharmaceutical and biotechnology executives from the world over. Biovays thoroughly enjoyed meeting the participants – fellow sponsors, delegates and speakers – and welcoming industry professionals to their home region.
The Discovery Summit is an annual event organised by Marcus Evans, one of the world’s leading business information companies. This 9th edition highlighted the latest advances in drug discovery and examined the industry’s numerous challenges and opportunities on a global level. International keynote presentations, case studies and strategic summit sessions were delivered by some of the most esteemed thought leaders of the drug discovery community. «Global perspectives on the challenges of innovative drug discovery and their respective solutions» The importance of knowledge-sharing, innovation and new approaches to R&D was a central theme of this year’s summit programme, brought to the fore in almost all the presentations and networking activities. The enormous potential represented by biomarkers in drug research and development was frequently mentioned and it was clear that there is a growing interest in the field. There was a general consensus that we are now entering an era of personalised medicine and that the current climate demands re-thinking the drug development process. Many agreed that a highly vertically-integrated business model is no longer adapted to today’s business environment and that externalisation of specialised research activities is not only judicious, but essential in order to secure future sustainability. This changing mindset is already reflected in the big pharma’s shift in focus from in-house R&D to scouting for external collaborators and establishing new partnerships with expert solutions providers. The aim is to develop long-term relationships and a collaboration network based on core competence knowledge areas and capabilities. Creativity and innovation are key if we, as an industry, are to forge ahead and live up to our corporate slogans and promises: helping people around the world live better and live longer. |
